5 Ways To Overcome Your Fear Of Public Speaking And Deliver A Killer Presentation!

Does the thought of public speaking or presenting in front of people feel like a complete nightmare? A while back I was asked to do a presentation at a conference at The Nobel Peace Center amongst a lot of experienced speakers within my field. I was terrified to say the least, but I said yes. Many of us feel this way, but we can't allow fear to get in the way of amazing opportunities. We desperately need more female speakers to obtain real diversity among opinion leaders across industries, and it's our responsibility to contribute to change by exiting our comfort zones. Here are my best 5 tips on how to deliver a killer presentation - with a minimal amount of anxiety.

Swedish singer/voiceover artist, Mona Najib (33), went ahead and did the one thing many of us are so afraid to do; she followed her dream, and maybe even more importantly, her heart. At 26, she was accepted into the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, California, and decided to just go for it.

Why We Need To Stop Comparing Ourselves To Other Women And How To Do It

Although it’s not among the finest traits of the female species, there is no denying that we have a tendency to compare ourselves to other women (hell, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m guilty of it too); sometimes so much so that it affects the way that we feel about ourselves in terms of our self-esteem, perceived capabilities and even self-worth. We can get so wrapped up in other women’s achievements, looks or ways of being, that we completely neglect our own strengths, accomplishments and victories. I’m not saying all women do this, I’m just saying that most women do this at some point in their lives, and that it ain’t pretty. Rather than admiring, getting inspired by and learning from other women, the ugly truth is that women often get insecure, jealous and competitive.

10 Things Women Need To Stop Apologizing For Immediately

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where, without even being aware of it, you’re apologizing for something that is completely out of your control, not your fault, or frankly nobody’s business but your own? I know I have (many many times), and apologizing for things that I know in my core that I shouldn’t be apologizing for makes me feel bad about myself.

How To Overcome Your Fear Of Dating

Sometimes, the prospect of dating can feel similar to the prospect of going to your work acquaintance’s birthday party – it seems like a great idea at first, but when the day arrives you’d rather chew your arm off than follow through. When I first started dating (London, 2009, pre Tinder), as in going on real dates (not watching movies with a guy from your class in high school), I found the concept terrifying; ‘What if he doesn’t like me? What if I say something stupid? What if we have nothing to talk about?’. When we don’t know what to expect from a situation, it’s easier to mentally prepare for the worst case scenario than the best. I overcame my dating anxiety a long time ago, and since I started dating in London, where dating is a big part of the culture, I was eased into it by people who grew up knowing how to date in the same way we grew up knowing how to cross country ski. I’m not saying British people are better than Scandinavians (heaven knows they have their flaws), I’m just saying we have a thing or two to learn from them when it comes to dating. The same goes for the Americans, they know that a date is just a date and simply see it as an opportunity to get to know someone new and have a fun time.
