The Absurdity Of The Negative Self-Talk Trend And Why We Need To Give Ourselves Some Slack

“There’s just so much I haven’t done. And my essay was bad, and my…I’m just not managing” How come surrounded by the most ambitious and amazing people, all I hear is how they are not doing well enough? Let me tell you how I could describe my life right now: “There’s just so much I haven’t done, and my essay was bad, and  I’ve eaten way too much chocolate lately and I should really go to the gym, and have a job and… I’m just not managing”

Why We Need To Stop Comparing Ourselves To Other Women And How To Do It

Although it's not among the finest traits of the female species, there is no denying that we have a tendency to compare ourselves to other women (hell, I'll be the first to admit that I'm guilty of it too); sometimes so much so that it affects the way that we feel about ourselves in terms of our self-esteem, perceived capabilities and even self-worth. We can get so wrapped up in other women's achievements, looks or ways of being, that we completely neglect our own strengths, accomplishments and victories. I'm not saying all women do this, I'm just saying that most women do this at some point in their lives, and that it ain't pretty. Rather than admiring, getting inspired by and learning from other women, the ugly truth is that women often get insecure, jealous and competitive.

Gender Disproportion In Creativity: Why We’re Due For a Change And What You Can Do To Make It Happen

Within the advertising industry we still have a job to do when it comes to increasing diversity and achieving gender equality, not only in management but also in the creative departments. Could more female involvement actually change the lives of women outside the industry bubble, and also affect the success of business?

The Best Spotify Playlists For Boosting Your Girl Boss Productivity Every Day Of The Week

I don't know about you, but every time I feel like my workday needs an inspiring soundtrack I do a quick browse on Spotify, pick a  playlist named something work-related, get annoyed after about three songs and end up turning it off. The Scandinavian Guide To Non-Awkward Networking

Networking can be challenging, uncomfortable and just plain awkward; especially if you’re Scandinavian (sorry for generalizing, fellow Scandi ladies). It’s not like we’re all introverts (or like we all find networking challenging), it’s just that talking to strangers isn’t something that we’re taught to do in a natural way;  it’s not a big part of our culture. The concept of "networking" is typically associated with going to events filled with people you don’t know for the sole purpose of making new connections, which puts a lot of pressure on someone who isn’t incredibly comfortable with networking in the first place. Running in the opposite direction of any networking event can be tempting at times, but some networking is usually required for both professional and personal development.

The Hunt For A Home – The Fixation and Social Stigma on The Need to Own a Home

As I scroll through Facebook, ads for apartments on sale keep blocking my newsfeed. Amongst posts by friends showcasing their new homes, engagement blings and babies, it seems like Mark Zuckerberg has been bought and keeps trying to influence the Norwegian 20 to 30-year olds to buy DNB-approved apartments. Looking at these ads, it’s pretty obvious that I need over 3 million NOKs to be able to afford an apartment in downtown Oslo that isn’t even the size of a shoe box. Over 3 million NOKs for a tiny home...

6 Ways to Improve Your e-mail Habits for a More Productive and Stress Free Workday

In today´s society, everyone is busy. Busy can be a good thing, but not if busy is (partly) a result of being distracted by incoming e-mails, begging for your attention several times every single hour. Many of the e-mails we receive are obviously important, but a very large chunk is also just “FYI´s”, newsletter subscriptions, and messages of other non-urgent matters.

Why Getting A Mentor Is The Best Thing You Can Do For Your Career

I’ve been teaching and doing different types of coaching for the several years now, and often find myself in discussions with men and women, both younger and older than me, who are constantly questioning their own decisions. They comfortably stay in what feels like safe work situations and are left unchallenged, unhappy and wanting to do something else, but unsure of how to get there, or even get started. In my experience, there are so many career options to choose from that people end up getting paralyzed and making no decisions at all.

3 Girl Boss Quotes That Will Put A Pep In Your Step

By the age of 22, I’ve lived in five countries. On an Instagram feed, it seems pretty cool, right? But factor in getting visas, unreliable friendships, the language barrier and of course being so far from family, and it can become a lot. But, the victories that happen along the way are what keep me excited about life and motivate me to continue pursuing my dreams. Such as meeting the love of my life in Norway, or celebrating Christmas in a legitimate winter wonderland, a polar opposite (no pun intended) of my life in California. Even hanging out with Martin Garrix one crazy Saturday in Paris (true story!)
